I was just curious to know what would be the range of a kids robot? A simple robo with lets say basic commands to say Hi <<name>> and Good Morning or other greetings. Are they really costly? And which manufacturer should i be looking for, while making a purchase. B)

WowWee has the most robust lineup of robotics. We've reviewed several. As to price you can spend what you want, obviously more gets you more features - but Mr. Personality is pretty solid.

Some of the better ones I've seen cost an arm and a leg... Does anybody here actually own one that could give us some insight? It's quite a costly venture, but is it really worth it in the end? I don't want my child to thrash and break something so expensive.

Take a look at our Tri-bot review, that's a good entry-level bot that's durable.

We have the Tri-bot. It is fun for a basic robot. My son's favorite feature is to set the "secret alarm" and when I walk by the robot it starts sounding a loud alarm and makes me jump. He thinks it's hysterical! As far as durability, it has gone down the stairs a few times, and there have been no issues, it's pretty tough.

Instead of buying a robot why don't you make your kid a robotic toy inventor??? It is all in the inventor's imagination. Or if you would like to buy one go for kidrobot.com..

The range of the robot depend on the features you want in robot . It cost increases as it features are increase you should search on Google that which kind of Robot you want.
